Overview

People have found ways for time immemorial to evoke responses from others. Some use finesse and verbal gymnastics to manipulate or disrupt people or groups. Other more troublesome individuals may simply be rude, vulgar, off topic or outright reprehensible in what they say or do to elicit a response they find favorable. This latter group falls into the online embodiment of what it means to be a Trolll. Trolls are usually viewed through an antagonistic lens and are reviled by moderators, and fellow posters for their disruptive behaviors or attitudes on blogs and forums. Worse still is the often clandestine nature Trolls prefer to operate within; many join online communities feigning allegiance to the collectives interests and discussions merely to deface topics or generally be disruptive. Trolls are known to destabilize online communities through their aforementioned methods by enraging other community members into trolling against them. On most forum sites and blogs the general rule is to not "feed the troll", in hope that not buying into the trolls antagonism will cause the troll to lose interest and cease their disruptiveness.
